It's Halloween Time Again at Gardner Village! 2014

It's that time again...
Where we look for Halloween themed things to do with our children..
We gave Gardner Village a shot again after last years fiasco. While their activities greatly improved,
here are a few things you ought to know.

1. All the little skits are gone that we once were entertained by.
2. It's now basically a giant playground for the kids.
3. It's $6 dollars a head. Even for the parents to go in and chaperone their kids in a playground and keep them out of mischief. Yup! While it's a kid base activity, they charge the adults to go in with them. Long gone are the days of the witches and the little skits they'd act out.

On the other hand. Kids have a completely excited blast in the play area. Especially on the new jump pillow. Adults can jump too, but Mom the photographer was taking pics....
They have a hay maze, several slide and a candy corn box to play in (dried corn to play in like a sandbox). There is a dance area as well.

The pony ride are back again this year! You have the option of putting them on the pony carousel (that will never happen for my boy as long as they have the other one) and the Pony ride around Garner Village.
The Pony Ride around the village is the ride of choice for most. If you're luck enough to get the owner of 'The Farm at Gardner Village' you're in for a treat! He's entertaining and fun. He's charming with the children and crack many a joke. He says hi to everyone as he passes and teacher the girls to wave as they go by and the boys to tip a cowboy hat at the ladies!

Enough of my talking, how about a few photos courtesy of Tashee Photography..

The worst thing your child has done..... that made you laugh!

The Finger

So I was at my sister in laws house one day. It was me, her, another friend and my sister in laws kids..
Her youngest at the the time was acting up a bit. Her mother was trying to tell her to do or stop something. At this point I can't remember what. But what made this such a historic moment was that all of a sudden, very calmly and with purpose she raised her middle finger to her mother only a few inches from her face and said "NO.."..

Once again in a situation like this, I could barely manage to hide the mirth from my face. But my composure was quickly lost when I saw our other friends face and she was practically crying trying not to laugh... I lost it! Just totally lost it. Suddenly our friend looks at me and said "You need a coffee. Now!" We left and got Coffee leaving my sister in law to deal with her child...

Cake

I was working on a Ballerina cake  for my niece a few years ago. I made 4 round cakes to make into the hoop dress skirt on the bottom. I was just looking up a few ideas on the internet... (needed a little inspiration since it was my first cake). I walked back into the kitchen to find , my then my almost four year old son, digging both hands into one of the cakes cooling on the rack... need I say more? Cake all over his face, hands and clothing... not to mention the floor and stove. I scolded him quickly, shooed him out of the kitchen quickly and then grabbed his dad and showed him what he'd done still laughing.

Jumping

So my nephew, then probably 3 years old, was running and jumping on his dad.His dad was getting angry about it instead of playing with him (he obviously wanted some attention). My brother was never really one to play when it was his weekend. He likes to drink and let his son run amok. Since he wasn't particularly in the habit of disciplining him unless it bothered his drinking.... well, let's just say, he didn't listen very well.  So naturally, my nephew, continued running and jumping on his dad. When all of  a sudden, his landing area changed. He landed right on his dad crotch. His dad rolled over in pain, and I just started laughing. My brother start growling at me in pain "It's not funny!". I was laughing too hard to answer. Then all of a sudden my nephew having realized the fact that I was entertained by what happened... decided to do it again. Right smack in his fathers crotch again. At this point I couldn't breath while my brother was trying hold his groin and discipline his kid.

And there is a moral to this life event:
If drinking and partying is more important that spending time with your kid, who you see two times a month, you too may suffer from the lack of your own parenting...

How my 5 year old beat the heat,,

So as of late, my son, sneaks out back to do this......

....After he bathes, my tub look like the bottom of a pond... *SMILE*.... I love my boy!

The Three Wise Men

Christmas Play Season...
No. Their play had nothing to do with the three wise men, but I saw this in the photo, so there we have it.

The horse was hyper and he loved it! Look at the look on his face!

My son is so content on that horse... what I wouldn't give to put him on one all the time..

My son & I went out to breakfast with his aunt. While we were paying my son asked to go over to the waiting bench. I said "yes". They he started running up & down the bench and then put his hands all over the windows. "Stop that! You're getting the windows dirty." The guy at the counter said "It's OK. I have to wash them anyway." I said "Thanks, but I don't him to do it anywhere else either."
This older lady turns, looks at me in astonishment and say "That's not something you hear these days. Good for you!" I smiled and asked "You mean someone telling their kid to behave?" She pretty much said "yes" and that most people let them run wild and misbehave. I said My Grandmother would have smacked me upside the head for doing the things kids do these days. She said hers too.

But in the end of all this is that it's good to know someone thinks I'm doing something right with my kid. Especially a complete stranger.
