Puberty to Manhood

 Puberty to Manhood

It's been a few years, since I've been on here. My son has grown up quite a bit.

He asked me to cut his hair today. Just as I started cutting it, he asked me about grooming his groin. Yes MY 16 year old boy wants to groom his groin hair. Now I love that he feels he talk to me about these things, but occasionally I have to keeps serious face when he brings up stuff. Today was one of those moments.
He asked me about it. I told him we have a extra head shaver he could use if he would like to, but to only use it for his private are. I told him not to use the one for his groin on his face and hair. Clean it after every use to  reduce the chance of bacterial growth moving from area to area.  Plus in my  mind, who wants a shaver that's been on they pubes on their face and hair?!

He said that the long hairs get caught. I fought that laugh and stated I like to keep my won short for various reason. Though I never got them caught, but it's cooler in the summer and keeps the sweat down that can stay in those little sucker and grow bacteria. He said he talked to his dad and he said the same thins about the hairs getting caught in things. Again, I wanted to laugh, but kid it. Though if he caught the mirth in my eyes he didn't say.

About  year ago he came and asked if it was normal for one testicle to smaller than the other. I said yes, but he also had surgery on his testicles when he was 6 months old. One of his testicles didn't descend to the proper placement for a male. They had to go in and pull that little sucker down to it's place. It stands to reason it may have a little bit of stunted growth. He was worried there was something wrong. Glad I could assuaged his worries.

I have always intended to be approachable to my kid. I don't want him to grow up the way I did with no one to go to with these kinds of questions. So far, so good.
